Vietnam Culinary Adventure (11 Days)

 

This tour is designed to not only take you through all the major highlights of Vietnam, but also to offer a fresh and original flavor to each individual destination. Vietnam Insider showcases the country through the eyes of our specialist guides.

Each and every moment has been carefully considered so that you will leave Vietnam with a deep understanding of the history, culture and natural environment, and also with the experience of something extra ordinary.

HO CHI MINH CITY - MEKONG DELTA - DANANG - HOI AN - HUE - HANOI - HA LONG BAY - HANOI

Itinerary
DAY 1: HO CHI MINH CITY ARRIVAL (D)

Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, a representative from Aurora and Vietnamese girls in traditional Ao Dai will welcome you with flowers. You are then escorted to your hotel in the city center. Time to freshen up and relax after a long journey. When darkness comes it is time to enjoy the welcome dinner on the finest dining Cruise in the city.  Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 2: HO CHI MINH CITY – COOKING CLASS (B,L)

In the morning, we will enjoy a cooking lesson at Mai’s Home with a daily menu. During some hours, you discover the culture of Vietnamese culinary art. With our Grand Chefs, participants will engage in a hands-on cooking class of Vietnamese traditional dishes. Full of joy and pride, you savor your own culinary creation. When you are back home a handbook with recipes will help you to reproduce the dishes to surprise your family & friends! The afternoon tour includes the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Officeand China Town. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 3: HO CHI MINH CITY – MEKONG DELTA (B,L)

In the morning take a 2 hour drive southwest of Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta, which is known as the rice bowl of Vietnam. Upon arrival, take a boat cruise along islets and tropical orchards through the canal of Vam Xep to reach a small islet, followed by a relaxing walk along shady and palm fringed trails passing by local villages where you can see their peaceful daily life. Stop en route to sip special tea with honey and sample fruits with a local family and share their stories of life in the Mekong Delta. They will guide you on a walk through their orchard and explain how tropical fruits are grown. Then continue the journey with a paddled sampan through the narrow, tree-lined canals of The Mekong River. Stop at a Garden Restaurant for lunch with a Mekong Delta style meal including “Elephant Ear” fish then visit handicraft villages and a coconut candy factory before returning to shore for driving back to Ho Chi Minh City for overnight.

DAY 4: HO CHI MINH CITY – HOI AN (B)

Fly to Da Nang and drive to the quaint fishing village of Hoi An. Go on a walking tour of this beautiful town, its fascinating architecture, gourmet restaurants and abundance of tailor shops.

DAY 5: HOI AN – EXPERIENCE FASCIATEING TASTE WITH CULINARY MASTER (B,L)

A passionate and extremely talented chef with deep knowledge of the Hoi An food scene, Duc Tran will escort you on a half day culinary journey with a visit to Hoi An market to meet vendors who supply him with some of his fresh daily ingredients for his marvellous and beautiful presentation of dishes at Mango Rooms in town. Meal include with your own creations under the demonstration of Duc Tran.

In the afternoon we drive to The Tra Que Vegetable Village to discover traditional gardening methods, join the farmers in the fields, spend a little time learning how to prepare ‘Tam Huu' spring roll & ‘Banh Xeo’ with your hosts. Before leaving, enjoy a relaxing foot massage using a therapy mixture from the garden. Overnight at your hotel in Hoi An.

DAY 6: HOI AN – HUE ROYAL CUISINE (B,D)

In the morning take a pleasant 3 hour drive to Hue imperial city with a stop en route for visiting theCham Museum.  In the afternoon, visit the Imperial Citadel, and later on take a boat upstream the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu pagoda.  This evening you will have the opportunity to chat with one of Hue’s most well known chefs who will explain the history of Hue’s cuisine and traditions of the royal feasts, followed by a fabulous authentic Hue dinner feast fit for an emperor. Overnight at your hotel in Hue.

DAY 7: HUE – THE ART OF FOOD CARVING (B,L)

After breakfast, follow our guide to Thien Tam Restaurant for a special class of food carving. With the instruction of the local artisan, you will be able to make an eagle´s nest from a pumpkin or a vase of roses from vegetables. Some Hue specialty dishes are also served during the lesson. Lunch will be served at Thien Tam Restaurant with vegetarian food or at a typical Garden house in the city.In the afternoon take a drive to visit the famous King Minh Mang and Tu Duc Tombs. Overnight in Hue.

DAY 8: HUE – HANOI (B,L)

Fly to Hanoi and upon arrival in the city, we will take a short cyclo ride around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, then stop at Hoan Kiem Lake (the lake of the Restored Sword) and visit Ngoc Son temple. Lunch is served at one of the finest fusion restaurants in the Old Quarter to experience a luxury and cozy atmosphere with delicious and inspired food. The rest of the day will be spent with our guide discovering Hanoi- Museum of History, Temple of Literature, and Tran Quoc Pagoda on the Westlake peninsula. Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 9: HANOI – STREET EAT & COOKING CLASS (B,L)

Your special itinerary today begins at your hotel and you will be escorted by a specialist street food guide and your private driver. Drive to the centre of Hanoi and en-route run through the program. Once in the centre of town the tour will be mostly conducted on foot so be sure that you are wearing comfortable walking shoes. Stroll through the Old Quarter, past the old east gate to Thanh Ha market. Along the way delicacies, strange food items and an explanation of Vietnamese food practices will be given. This busy, eclectic market is alive with the sights and sounds of Hanoi and is the essence of Vietnamese culture.

 

Continue through the streets of the Old Quarter to Dong Xuan market to sample some local treats such as pho tiu and bun dau mam tom. Your guide will explain the routine of Vietnamese eating times and the indigenous and unusual ingredients used. Stroll up ‘food alley’ to see other dishes on offer. From here visit the food sections of Hanoi’s main market, Dong Xuan. See dried goods and aromatics, the essentials of Vietnamese cuisine.

Walk down to Hang Than Street to view ceremonial cake stalls and taste a special French influenced dessert. An explanation on traditions and food gifts for celebrations will be given. Continue back into the Old Quarter via Hang Cot Street to check out the seasonal fruits on offer. Next up, your lunch. Feast on some of the most famous dishes in Hanoi: Banh cuon (steamed roll rice pancake) and cha ca (grilled fish). At the end of the tour stop at one of the Old Quarter´s busiest (yet smallest) coffee shops for a well-earned sit down and coffee before transferring back to your hotel. The trip finishes with a hands-on cooking class at Hanoi Cooking Centre.

DAY 10: HANOI – HA LONG BAY – THE WORLD HERITAGE (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we leave for Ha Long Bay. Upon arrival at around noon time, we will embark on a cruiser. Enjoy the spectacular views of Ha Long Bay on a cruise. Lunch with fresh seafood will be served during your cruise. A short stop for an excursion to Surprise Cave, swimming and kayaking if the weather allows. Enjoy dinner and a romantic night on board.

DAY 11: HA LONG BAY – VAN GIANG VILLAGE (B,D)

In the morning, cruise through Bai Tu Long Bay, passing by several more rocks, islets, and fishingvillages. Brunch is served onboard before arriving at Ha Long wharf at about 11:00 and drive back to Hanoi. Arrive at your hotel around 15:00.

After freshening up, we would like to add onto your trip a special experience with a visit to a small village off the beaten track- Bat Trang pottery village- where you will be able to participate in preparing (and eating) a typical daily meal. Return to Hanoi in the evening for overnight.

DAY 12: HANOI DEPARTURE (B)

Free time for last minute shopping before transfer to International airport for departure flight.
